'Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children.

Play also offers an ideal opportunity for parents to engage fully with their children.' K Ginsburg

It is great to welcome visitors back to our Stay & Play sessions. We were looking at the Nursery Rhyme ‘Little Miss Muffet’ yesterday. We also enjoyed some fresh air and Autumn sunshine after all the rain of the past week.

Enjoying the activities today in our Stay & Play session. We meet every Wednesday in term time 1.15 - 3pm. Why not come and join us?

It was so good to open our doors again yesterday to Stay & Play. We are looking forward to next week.

Yesterday in Stay & Play we were looking at people who help us. The Veterinary Surgery was very busy with poorly animals. There were details being taken down, examinations taking places, lots of injections needing to be administered, telephone conversations for appointments to be made and bills to be paid. We are having a half term break next week but you are welcome to join us again on Wednesday 26th February between 1.15 and 3.00pm.

Lots of learning going on yesterday in Stay & Play as children investigated the power of magnets and experimented folding and joining techniques to make hats, books and even houses for hedgehogs.

Stay & Play enjoying time with the whole school in our gorgeous surroundings.

Yesterday in Stay & Play our Reception children looked at mixing ingredients together and whether the changes were reversible or not. We discussed what we thought dissolving meant and then explored some different ingredients to see what they looked like and how they felt before and after a change, We explored putting them in a warm or cold environment to see if it made a difference. The children enjoyed various experiments including making a cake, a jelly and we are waiting to see what will happen to the egg we placed in vinegar.

Last week in Stay & Play we looked at ways to look after our world. We sorted and recycled items to make toys, learned how to sew and mend instead of throwing away and cleaned things to reuse them.

2018 -2019

A look back over the year (2017- 2018)

Over the last few weeks the children attending Stay & Play have been working on a making a themed hat, ‘Mary, Mary Quite Contrary’, for a competition at Mawdesley Tea Party on Saturday. We were delighted to be awarded the First Prize of £5. This money will go towards a party for our final session of this year tomorrow (Wed 18th July) from 1.15 – 3.00 pm.

Looking at dinosaur fossils and having a go at an archaeology dig. We investigated how to free dinosaurs from ice and whether wrapping them in newspaper would help.
